about cinespace
CINESPACE is a not-for-profit that aims to empower CALD, BIPOC and First Nations filmmakers to create with agency. We collaborate with artists, community and partners to work towards meaningful representation in the Australian film and television industry.
Proudly founded in Melbourne's West in 2016, CINESPACE has delivered key programs such as Smartphone Stories, StoryLab, Package to Pitch, and Training Grounds to help hundreds of multicultural filmmakers develop their skills and connect with the community.
CINESPACE's flagship program ‘RESIDENCY’ runs four times per year, supporting multicultural filmmakers and their stories with resources, equipment, studio space and more to bring their films to life.

TRANSPARENCY
We foster the creation and dissemination of media content by and about communities of colour. We advocate for responsible self-representation and empower underrepresented groups to take up space.
We create presence, strength and unity for filmmakers of colour, increasing our share of voice in the Australian film industry. We provide support and encouragement for our artists to be who they are and thrive.
Our work is for the community. We work best with creative and intersectional collaboration with community, artists and industry partners. We listen, evolve and support each other for the sake of a collective goal: reciprocity.
We are open about our intent and business practices with artists, community and our partners. Our annual reporting is accurate and intentional to provide insight into our work and encourage authenticity, accountability and authorship.
